5 Simple Ways to Market Hospices

1. Write Articles

Publish useful hospice related information online and in local newspapers. Use this as an educational tool. Inform people on what makes your hospice special and tell them of the many ways hospice can be paid for. Don’t let the fear of high costs keep them away! Become an expert on the subject, put your contact information on the articles, and encourage people to contact you if they have any questions.

2. Get Referrals

Send an informational package to hospitals, social workers, therapists, and counselors who come into contact with elderly patients. You should tell the story of your hospice and educate them on something useful. Many companies will be trying to get referrals from the same sources so offer something to stand out. You could include branded office supplies or baked goods. It is a good idea to then follow up with a call asking if they enjoyed your gift.

3. Take Advantage of Listings

Search for directories that families may look at when searching for hospices. Make sure that your company is put in those lists!  You can become a member of certain organizations to receive the benefits of their popularity. If you are a member they list your company on their website, increasing referrals. Two popular organizations are the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the National Association for Home Care and Hospice.

4. Mobile Marketing

We aren’t talking about cell phones here. If you have nurses visiting patients in their home, have your nurse put a magnetic sign advertising your hospice on their car. This is a relatively inexpensive way to get people familiar with your brand. Include a company phone number if people have any questions.

5. Attend Conventions and Fairs

Rent a booth at a health related convention or fair. Make your booth visually attractive to get people's attention. Print materials to give out to attendees. This is a great networking opportunity to educate people on what hospice is and why your company is the best. Consider giving away branded promotional items so attendees are reminded of your brand after the convention is over.
